Organic Milk thistle goes by Croatian names Marijin oslobod, trn svete Marije(Saint Mary's thorn ) and it is an annual or biennial plant of the family Asteraceae.  Milk thistle tincture drops are known by the old folk tales, as well as in the pharmacopoeia so these drops come with a health claim that they are benefitial for normal liver functioning. Milk Thistle is widespread on the Mediterranean, while you can find it all along the Adriatic sea coast in Croatia and especially in Biokovo. Almost all parts of this herb are edible. This herb is easily recognised due to its crimson roundly shaped flower heads, encircled by slightly thorny leaves. Milk Thistle was higly regarded in the Middle Ages, while the lactating women use it even nowadays in order to stimulate milk excretion because of its oestrogenic effects.
